Marisa del Campo (soprano) is a singer, actor, teacher, vocologist and coach in New York City. A Long Island native, Marisa has been a driven musician since she first joined the church choir at age 8 and began violin lessons. It was after singing a lead role in her first musical, The Wizard of Oz, that she realized her true passion for singing.  

 Teaching Credentials

Marisa completed her Bachelors of Music at the Peabody Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Phyllis Bryn-Julson and Marianna Busching.  She then went on to complete her Master’s degree at New York University in Vocal Performance with an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy studying with Matthew Shephard Smith and Dr. Brian Gill.  Marisa also works as a trained Vocologist after completing her course work through the National Center for Voice and Speech at the University of Utah.

Marisa has been on faculty at New York University since 2010 as an adjunct professor of voice. In addition to her teaching duties, she previously acted as the administrator of the vocal pedagogy department, working as a graduate student advisor, and adjunct instructor supervisor. She was an acting and vocal coach, voice technician, career consultant, and college preparatory advisor at Broadway Artists Alliance and has been a teaching artist at Student’s Live! Marisa has also worn the many hats of a guest instructor, consultant, and organizer for workshops and events with Mindful Voice Productions, New York University, Broadway Artists Alliance, and more.

Her students have been seen in Broadway musicals, National and International tours, studio and award winning independent films, television, and theater festivals.  Many of her students have been accepted to a myriad of prestigious music and acting programs including those at NYU, Cap21, Elon, University of Rhode Island, Pace, Marymount, FSU, Northwestern, BoCo, The New School, AMDA, Tulane, Loyola Marymount, Oklahoma City University, among many others.

 Additionally, Marisa is a certified yoga instructor specializing in Vinyasa Flow and has been exploring methods to connect breath and movement to singing technique and character development to further enhance the sense of mindfulness and awareness while performing.

Performance History

During her time in the Baltimore/D.C. area, Marisa was cast in the world premier of The Furies at the Hartke Theater.  Other opera credits include Die Zauberflöte, Marriage By Lantern-light, and her critically acclaimed performance as Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. Of this performance, The Baltimore Sun’s Tim Smith wrote, “With an arsenal of facial expressions and telling body language, del Campo's portrayal overflowed with personality… [a] consistently appealing vocalist, producing a warm, smooth sound.”  

Marisa has had the honor of touring with The Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Vietri Sul Mare, Italy where she performed in Die Zauberflöte at the Serici Theater of the Royal Belvedere Palace - San Leucio (Caserta).  Along with her captivating performance in the main stage opera, Marisa performed in concerts along the Amalfi coast, presenting a wide range of repertoire including arias, art songs, and musical theater selections in collaboration with world renowned vocal coach, Michael Cordovana.

Marisa also has musical and contemporary theater credentials, playing the roles of Jennifer in the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Jenny in Berlin to Broadway (Dal Norris, Stan Tucker) as well as Bunny in John Guare’s House of Blue Leaves (John Astin, Peg Denithorne).  She premiered the role of Melody in the off-broadway workshop of Casual Bob (Donald Gaverick, Mark McDaniels) as well as a new contemporary opera, Lunch (Sara Cooper, Zach Redler).

In addition to her operatic and musical theater productions, Marisa has collaborated with artists and instrumentalists both regionally and internationally on a series of recitals that included arias, art songs, and musical theater material.  She has performed with Grammy nominated classical Indian singer and songwriter, Chandrika Tandon, and was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall under the baton of esteemed composer John Rutter. She has written, self-produced, and performed numerous cabaret shows, the two most recent being, Somedays and Decades in the Baltimore, DC, and New York areas.  Marisa has had privilege to be invited to sing in various benefit performances, including a fundraising event for the Center for AIDS Research in New York City.  

As a director, Marisa has developed and staged scenes from published plays, musicals, and new works.  She has directed full productions of the Baroque opera, La Calisto by Cavalli at the Peabody Conservatory, The Vagina Monologues, Christopher Durang’s The Actor’s Nightmare, and assisted directed Conrad Susa’s Transformations, at Baltimore Theater Project.

Marisa is a proud member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing, The Voice Foundation, The Pan-American Voice Association, The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, and The SpeakEasy Cooperative.
